Engineer / Sailor: Jarrah
I come from Australia - I grew up far away from the water, in a mountainous region outside Sydney. I saw a large sailing ship for the first time in Sydney Harbour, whereupon I immediately applied for a traineeship. My first training cruises were soon followed by a Studies in marine engineeringwhich I also completed in Sydney.
As chief engineer, I worked on a Danish brigantine, the owner of which had been on this ship for many years. Together with the Eye of the Wind, we travelled several stages of a round-the-world trip had. On board this ship I also met Tiger Timbs, the former owner of Eye of the Windwho now sailed with me as first mate.
When my partner returned from Australia to her home country of Germany, I followed her and looked around for opportunities to sail with her. I started as a trainee in the crew of the Eye of the Wind before At the beginning of 2021 in a dual role as deck seaman and engineer was accepted into the regular crew. The community here on board is one of the best I have ever experienced. The interaction with each other is always friendly.
I prefer to sail long distances: across the Atlantic, to the Caribbeanjust far away from everything. Sailing and discovering simply always belong together for me.
