"Open Ship" - ship tour in Kiel

Cruise information

For 114 years, the Sail training ship Eye of the Wind across all the world's oceans. On Thursday, 7 August, the tall ship, which has also been used as a film set in several Hollywood productions, can be visited. As part of a "Open Ship" the regular crew will answer questions from all seafarers, ship lovers and young sea dogs about the ship and its history. Collectors will of course also receive a smart ship stamp.

 

The "open-ship" is expected to take place at the Tiessenkai berth in Kiel-Holtenau. Subject to change at short notice.

Keel

Experience the impressive Kiel Canal with a view of the locks and enjoy walks by the water. Discover the lighthouse monument where Kaiser Wilhelm II once opened the canal. Relax in the café with a view of the passing ships.

In Holtenau on the western shore of the Kiel Fjord the area at Tiessenkai is the maritime centre of attraction. Here you will have the opportunity to watch the many comings and goings in front of the Locks of the Kiel Canal to watch. From small sports yachts to ocean-going giants, watercraft of all shapes and sizes pass us by during the day on the world's busiest artificial waterway. At the Walk to the small Holtenau lighthouse get a taste of the nostalgic harbour atmosphere - old cargo ships and schooners are often moored here. Use the time during your stay for a Exploring the Kiel Fjordone day at the Falckenstein lido or an excursion into the world of sailing in the Olympic harbour of Schilksee or in the marina at Strande.
