The great Windjammer parade on the penultimate day of the Kiel Week is the highlight of the event for all visitors and the seafarers involved. On board the Eye of the Wind are you In the centre of the parade field - You will experience the atmosphere on board, the passing of the other tall ships and the view of the fjord landscape from the shore!
Together with a large Fleet of pleasure craft, historic steamboats and traditional sailing ships we sail past the green and white Friedrichsort lighthouse out towards the Baltic Sea. On our starboard side, we see the Laboe naval memorial, and right next to it we spot the former submarine U 995, which looks particularly impressive from this perspective, perched on the beach. Small colourful sails dominate the picture off the opposite shore of the fjord. Here we find the sailing competitions on the regatta courses takes place. The focal point of the sailing competition is the Schilksee Olympic Centre - the Olympic flame was lit here during the 1972 Games and it is still the heart of the organisation centre for every Kiel Week.
