Join the crew of the Eye of the Wind on a voyage from Kiel to Hamburg – right through the heart of Schleswig-Holstein. As we sail through the Kiel Canal, we’ll pass under ten high bridges and witness the never-ending flow of traffic – comprising container ships, cruise liners, pleasure craft and ferries – on the world’s busiest man-made waterway. We will then explore the Lower Elbe region. Navigation along this stretch of the river is dependent on the tides. Whether we can set sail depends entirely on the weather conditions. Large sections of this route are therefore covered under motor power. The destination of this voyage is Hamburg, the ‘Gateway to the World’, where, just a few days after our arrival, the celebrations for the grand harbour anniversary will begin.
