Trip information

Plymouth has a special significance in the history of the Eye of the Wind, as it was here in 1978 that the circumnavigation of the globe began as part of a scientific expedition under the patronage of HRH The Prince of Wales (now King Charles III). Now, the English port city is the starting point for a two-week Atlantic voyage. The vast ocean provides fresh sailing winds and healthy sea air. Fourteen days on board and at sea – time for you to experience an unforgettable active sailing vacation while getting to know the ship as a place of peace and relaxation. Our destination is Madeira, the colorful “flower island” in the Atlantic.

Plymouth

Welcome to the historic harbour of Plymouth, where the Mayflower Steps commemorate important voyages. Visit the impressive National Marine Aquarium and enjoy the view from Smeaton's Tower. Let yourself be tempted by local delicacies in the Barbican Market – an ideal destination for sea lovers!

When you visit Plymouth in south-west England, you will experience a city that is closely connected to the sea. The historic harbour The Hoe is well worth a visit, where the famous Mayflower Steps commemorate the departure of the Pilgrim Fathers to America. Here you can stroll along the promenade and enjoy the view of Smeaton's Tower lighthouse. At the National Marine Aquarium, you can discover an impressive underwater world, while at the Royal William Yard you can gain an insight into 19th-century maritime architecture. Make the most of your stay with a visit to the Marine Dockyard Museum, where you can learn more about the history of the Royal Navy. There are also numerous boat trips around the natural harbour of Plymouth Sound.

During your stay in Madeira, you can expect to find a variety of impressive sights with a maritime flair. The central point of interest is the picturesque harbour of Funchal, which is not only the starting point for cruises, but also for whale and dolphin watching tours. Stroll along the ‘Avenida do Mar’ promenade and enjoy the atmosphere of the numerous cafés with sea views. In the Museu de História Natural do Funchal, you can discover the fascinating underwater world of Madeira. The Cristiano Ronaldo Museum, located directly at the harbour, is also worth a visit.
