Without exaggeration, this will be one of the most beautiful sailing trips in the Baltic Sea region! Never before in its 115-year history has our ship ventured further northeast than on this voyage. On this summer trip between Finland and Estonia, we will explore the scenic coastline of the Gulf of Finland. Days at sea alternate with nights at a sheltered anchorage or in port. Depending on wind and weather conditions, stopovers with shore leave are planned along the coast. The sailing trip ends in the centre of Tallinn, one of the most attractive maritime cities in the Baltic. Enjoy relaxing days on board – no previous experience is required to sail on the windjammer.

Exploration trip in the Gulf of Finland
Trip information
This is where you board
Helsinki, Finland's capital on the Baltic Sea, combines clear Nordic architecture with plenty of nature. The compact city centre is easy to explore on foot. The city's landmark is the snow-white cathedral on Senate Square, surrounded by classical administrative buildings. Nearby is the Esplanadi shopping street with parks, boutiques and cafés, as well as the lively market square at the South Harbour, where local specialities and handicrafts are on offer. The Ateljee Bar view at the Hotel Torni or the platforms at Observatorioberget offer impressive views over the city. Those interested in art and architecture should visit the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art or the wooden church Kampin kappeli of Silence. It is also worth taking a detour to the design district with Finnish design, galleries and modern architecture.
Voyage description
In the vibrant harbour of Helsinki, our crew welcomes you aboard. Boarding is at 7 p.m., followed by a dinner where you will get to know the crew members and your fellow travellers in a relaxed atmosphere. You will soon feel at home in the cosy lounges and on the deck planks of the Eye of the Wind.
You can easily reach Helsinki by direct flight from many international airports, or alternatively by ferry across the Baltic Sea – your break begins as soon as you start your journey.
Our sailing area: across the Gulf of Finland to Estonia
Before long, we leave the island world off Helsinki astern: the fortress island of Suomenlinna, green park islands and small summer houses can be spotted in the first few nautical miles. Between passenger ferries, fishing boats and sailing yachts, we head out onto the Gulf of Finland. As soon as there is enough space, we hoist the sails – the quiet creaking of the rigging, the movement of the sailcloth in the wind and the rushing of the bow wave set the mood for our sea voyage.
With a southerly course, we gradually move away from the coast, opening up the view to the expanse between Finland and Estonia. The Baltic Sea here appears as an open, yet easily navigable waterway. The ship rolls gently in the swell, seabirds trace their paths, and occasionally the silhouettes of large ferries are visible on the horizon. On deck, you have time to let your gaze wander, jot down a few lines in your travel diary, or simply enjoy the fresh breeze while everyday life remains a distant memory.
Would you prefer to sail along comfortably or actively? – The choice is yours!
After a safety and sailing briefing from the friendly ship's crew, you are invited to get involved in the sailing operations yourself. Under expert guidance, you will help hoist and trim the sails, take the helm, or participate in traditional seamanship activities with the ropes. Those who prefer to watch can make themselves comfortable on deck or in the lounge and observe the action from the front row – all activities on deck are voluntary and carried out with great enjoyment of the shared experience.
The fresh sea air whets the appetite: look forward to our excellent onboard cuisine, which will spoil you with a variety of dishes – inspired by Nordic cuisine, with fresh fish, seasonal vegetables, and sweet treats from the galley. Shared meals on deck or in the lounge will soon become a firm ritual of the day.
Summer light, sea horizon and medieval Hanseatic town
In the light of the long Nordic days, the bay takes on fine shades of blue and silver. Depending on the route and weather, there's the possibility of anchoring overnight: time for a refreshing dip in the Baltic Sea or simply for sunbathing on deck as the ship gently sways at anchor. The vast water, the play of light and clouds – here, holiday relaxation comes naturally.
As the journey progresses, the Estonian coast finally appears on the horizon. Step by step, the contours of Tallinn emerge: church spires, the medieval old town, modern port facilities. We leisurely enter the harbour, experiencing how the view transforms from the open sea into a backdrop of city walls, warehouses, and cranes.
Tallinn combines the atmosphere of a historic Hanseatic city with vibrant, modern urban life. After disembarking, you will have the opportunity to extend your stay individually – perhaps with a stroll through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, a visit to one of the cosy cafés, or an exploration of the viewpoints overlooking the harbour and Old Town rooftops. Your sailing trip across the Gulf of Finland will conclude at your own pace.
This is where you disembark
Tallinn, Estonia's capital on the Baltic Sea, combines well-preserved medieval architecture with a modern metropolis. The old town, surrounded by city walls, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and can be easily explored on foot. Raekoja plats is home to the Gothic town hall and narrow streets lined with merchants' houses and warehouses that bear witness to the Hanseatic era. A short climb leads up to Toompea Hill with its Russian Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and St. Mary's Cathedral. The viewpoints offer panoramic views over the red roofs and the harbour. Also worth seeing are the historic city walls with defensive towers such as the "Long Hermann" and the Rotermann entertainment district, where old industrial buildings now house design shops, restaurants and galleries.
