Trip information

We sail along the invisible border between the Caribbean Sea and the wide North Atlantic Ocean. Two of the most beautiful and lively Antilles islands mark the start and end points of this trip: Guadeloupe and Antigua! On board the Eye of the Wind, we take you on an unforgettable journey of discovery through the enchanting island world of the Caribbean. Breathtaking natural scenery, sailing activities in a sunny maritime climate and the culture of the colourful Caribbean islands make this trip a unique holiday experience.

This is where you board

Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe delights with tropical nature, endless sandy beaches and the scent of fresh sugar cane. Hiking in the rainforest, diving under waterfalls or snorkelling in the turquoise blue sea - here guests can experience Creole joie de vivre, colourful markets and the magic of the Caribbean.

For nature lovers, the butterfly-shaped "Emerald Island" of Guadeloupe is a green paradise. Here you can discover the largest national park in the Caribbean with the highest waterfalls in the Antilles, a treetop trail, mysterious mangrove forests and lush flora and fauna. From time to time, we can see the volcanic cone of La Soufrière, which is almost 1,500 metres high, from the deck of the Eye of the Wind. The colour palette of the sandy beaches ranges from the finest snow white to black volcanic sand. Guadeloupe is largely influenced by French, African, East Indian and West Indian cultures. This mixture is particularly evident in the architecture, which ranges from French colonial style to Hindu temples.

Voyage description

A detailed description of the trip will be available here shortly.

This is where you disembark

Antigua

At Pigeon Point, at the exit of Falmouth Harbour, there is a publicly accessible sandy beach that attracts water sports enthusiasts, sun worshippers and beach walkers alike. A relaxing evening stroll ends here with a beautiful sunset behind the hills of the island's national parks.

The former British colony is famous for its 365 dream beaches – one beach for every day of the year. After its discovery by Christopher Columbus, British colonial rule shaped the island's image. Make the most of your stay by visiting English Harbourtown with its impeccably restored architecture. The accessible and absolutely worth seeing ruins of the fort bear witness to colonial efforts to protect against invasions from the sea.

In the centre of the island's capital, St. John's, narrow streets and markets invite you to stroll around. You can shop duty-free in the Heritage and Redcliffe Quay shopping centres. Don't miss out on a visit to one of the rum distilleries – some of the rums on offer are considered to be among the most remarkable creations in the world.

Guestbook comments

I can highly recommend a sailing trip on the Eye of the Wind. This is a sailing ship straight out of a picture book, and the crew is in a great mood. You may climb to the top of the mast – 27 metres above sea level. Fabulous!"

Claus-Georg Petri
Fellow sailor and journalist, about his cruise in the South Funen Archipelago

Simply an overwhelming experience - you have to experience it.

Dr Hermann Gärlich
fellow sailor, about his voyage between Vigo and Tenerife

Here I can let go of all the tension and find myself again.

Jan Störmer
Fellow sailor, about his voyage from Stockholm through the Swedish Archipelago

Seeing this magnificent sailing ship glide through the waves powered only by the wind is an indescribable feeling. There is nothing more beautiful.
