The Fehmarn Belt and Lübeck Bay: “Cast off!” for a six-day sailing trip, during which we plan to visit some of the most beautiful Baltic Sea harbours in Schleswig-Holstein. Eckernförde’s town harbour is the starting point for this trip, which takes us through Eckernförde Bay and across the Fehmarn Belt to Lübeck Bay. Depending on the weather conditions, stop-offs along the Schleswig-Holstein coast or in southern Denmark may also be possible. Which places are actually visited depends on the wind and weather – the route remains flexible.

In Kiel, maritime charm blends with the city’s vibrant history. A stroll takes you through the city centre and along the fjord, where ships and harbour facilities characterise the cityscape. Those with more time to spend on land can explore museums, cafés and the waterfront promenade.

Orth on Fehmarn is a small, particularly charming harbour town. It’s lovely to take a leisurely stroll around the harbour; sailing boats, cafés and the view of the water make a stay here a welcome break from everyday life on board. The surrounding area is perfect for exploring the island’s coastal landscape.

In Neustadt in Holstein, the historic town centre meets the bustling harbour. The old town is ideal for a leisurely stroll, whilst at the harbour you can really get a feel for the town’s maritime life.

Travemünde welcomes its visitors with a seaside resort atmosphere and a wide promenade. Among the well-known sights are the Old Lighthouse and the Passat, the historic four-masted sailing ship moored at Priwall, which, incidentally, was built in the same year as our Eye of the Wind.

On board, too, the voyage becomes a shared experience: all guests are welcome to take an active part in sailing on a voluntary basis and – accompanied by the crew – even steer the boat themselves. No prior experience is necessary; those who prefer to watch and enjoy the sea air are just as welcome.

The food on board is particularly delicious and makes sharing meals together a lovely part of the holiday experience. With your energy replenished, you can enjoy the next day’s sailing even more.

The itinerary includes arrival in Lübeck on Friday morning (16 April). This gives you a full day to explore the city’s sights without having to book an extra night’s accommodation at a hotel.
