Since 1911 the Sailing ship Eye of the Wind über alle Weltmeere. Am 11. April kann der Großsegler, der übrigens auch schon als Filmkulisse in mehreren Hollywood-Produktionen zu Leinwandruhm gelangte, besichtigt werden. Im Rahmen eines Open Ship the crew will answer questions from all seafarers, ship lovers and young sea dogs about the Ship and its History. Every visitor can try out sailor's knots in a "knot school", and collectors will of course also receive a ship's stamp.

Admission is free. Registration or booking is not necessary for participation in the Open Ship. There is no day trip during the Open Ship; the ship remains moored at its berth. The organiser reserves the right to change the berth at short notice.

Eckernförde

Eckernförde delights with its maritime charm: the long sandy beach invites you to swim, while the historic old town with its colourful gabled houses and the Sankt Nicolai church tower tempts you to take a stroll. The harbour, the Baltic Sea Information Centre and the candy factory are also worth a visit.

Eckernförde is idyllically situated on the Baltic Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein. In the town harbour, you can take a stroll along the inviting harbour promenade, which is a popular attraction for guests and locals alike. The fine sandy, four-kilometre-long beach with its colourful beach chairs is only a few minutes' walk away.


Make the most of your stay by taking a leisurely stroll through the shopping streets in the immediate vicinity of the harbour area. The historic old town invites you to wander around its lovingly restored half-timbered houses, small boutiques and winding alleys. Particularly worth seeing is the 13th-century St. Nicolai Church, whose tower offers a wonderful view of the city and the sea.
